Welcome to American Books & Carpets
American Books & Carpets was launched to showcase our unique product line of alma mater, fraternity/sorority carpets and an upcoming military children book series. Since 2012, our business has earned a reputation for high quality carpets and outstanding customer service leading to contracts with the major military retail stores: Navy Exchange, Marine Corps Exchange, and AAFES. We are now expanding our vision to colleges near and dear to you.
We are thrilled to be the first company to "Americanize", under the Fair Labor Standard Acts, one of the oldest and least understood art forms in the world – hand looming. Each carpet is made of vegetable dyed fine wool and silk. The crafting of a single carpet in the Pakistani Silk Touch-style entails a five-step process from a digital logo to a finished product which can take several weeks. Handmade Art because your Alma-matters!
Celebrating Everyday Heroes - Our children books were inspired by the times Lydia or Erik (pictured in the team section) were deployed and their children had to cope with separation anxiety. From the need to explain why mommy or daddy had to depart on a mission, sprung forth the first installment of what we hope are many books detailing the everyday responsibilities of working military parents -- including those who stay-at-home.

Who We Are
A Veteran Owned Small Business
Our initial roots stem as a traditional handmade carpet company providing military customers fair market value masterpiece carpets. Until Lydia, a Naval Academy graduate, had the brilliant idea to commission a custom made, hand loomed carpet with said Academy’s logo, American Books & Carpets was born. After the positive response the sample carpets received from Naval personnel during our traditional rug flops, we decided to expand the vision.
Books & Carpets
Erik’s first flying tour in the US Navy 20 years ago took him to the Middle East, where he discovered his passion for handmade carpets and established a lifelong friendship with a family of renowned carpet dealers. After nearly 18 years in the cockpit for the Navy - Erik's Mentor, John Biagas (pictured below) inspired him to follow his entrepreneurial spirit and pursue his passion of "flying carpets"! These two lifelong "wingmen" hope this business venture will serve as a platform to educate children as well as help bridge the divide between two great cultures.
Authentic handmade carpets are much more than a floor rug. Each carpet is a unique piece of art and pride. When cared for, they will last a lifetime and in many cases will pass down from generation to generation.
American Books & Carpets aims to contribute to a charitable cause with every company sale. We have done extensive charity work with product donations to benefit auctions & hosting fundraisers for non-profits.

NSHF wants to ensure that every service member is given an opportunity for full recovery by providing financial assistance, respite care, special equipment, transportation, recreational opportunities, and other services. The Navy Safe Harbor foundation is dedicated to supporting the recovery of seriously wounded, Ill and injured Sailors, Coast guardsmen, and their families by assisting them with the resources not currently provided by government or community resources.
